Carol's Startup Company Nominated for a Martha Stewart Award

Group gifts can make a big impact, but coordinating them can be a big headache. For NeigerDesign's own Carol Neiger, this problem was all too real when she coordinated a group "friendship quilt" to comfort a seriously ill friend during treatment. Carol designed and printed each individual fabric square (each with individualized quotes), and several friends sewed the quilt. While the end result was priceless and worth the work, Carol's strategic mind couldn't help but dream up ways to make the entire process easier.

Carol improved her fabric designs, created a business plan and with the help of NeigerDesign's web wizard John Shaw, and quilting queen Marybeth Tawfik, GivingQuilts was born. This unique e-commerce startup allows one user to create an account, purchase the first portion of a group gift, and invite friends and family to contribute; GivingQuilts takes care of the rest. With several successful quilts already in the bag, Carol plans to expand its custom product line to additional products and a wider variety of themed designs, like the dog lover's quilt pictured here.

In late August, GivingQuilts was nominated for a Martha Stewart American Made Audience Choice Award. Carol and the GivingQuilts team are so excited just to be nominated for an award, but let's face it, they really want to win! You, yes you, can help them beat the competition by visiting the link below and clicking the green button that says "vote". Then sign in with your Facebook account, or register with an email address and voilà! Vote up to six times every day for us untilSeptember 13th.

Thank you for voting! Also feel free to check out John Shaw's handy work on the official GivingQuilts website.
