Community Involvement

At NeigerDesign we understand the importance of community to us as individuals and as an organization. It starts with our commitment to maintaining a culture of work/life balance, knowing that each of us needs to nurture the many aspects of our lives in order to focus our passion where it does the most good.
Although each of us is a member of many communities, including family, neighborhood, social, religious or spiritual, special interests, etc., as an organization we focus our giving back on the Evanston Community, the Chicago community and the design community.
Evanston Community
We love Evanston! NeigerDesign has been a member of the Evanston community since 1989. Some of us live here, some live nearby, but we all work, dine, shop and enjoy entertainment here. It is with a sense of pride that we contribute our talents to supporting this wonderful community.
NeigerDesign designed a calendar for the City of Evanston. The "I Heart Evanston Trees" contest, launched in the fall of 2014, was designed to engage Evanston community members in the act of creating artwork that celebrates Evanston trees. The contest, which ran for three weeks in October, accepted over 80 entries from artists of all ages and professions. The calendar is full of helpful tips and community events. To purchase the calendar or greeting card packets, visit one of Evanston's community centers, or order at www.cityofevanston.org/forestry while supplies last.
Downtown Evanston
Downtown Evanston is a thriving pedestrian hub of businesses, residences and retail stores. NeigerDesign designed the Downtown Evanston website to share our enthusiasm and help everyone find all of the many treasures the city has to offer.
Evanston 4th of July
Evanston is known for its 4th of July celebrations that include a Fun Run, an old-fashioned parade, and evening concert and fireworks at the lakefront. For several years NeigerDesign has contributed to the festivities with posters and parade programs.
Evanston Public Library
Books Alive! Childhood reading and literacy is increasingly more important as the digital age requires reading and writing skills to succeed and fully participate in the adult world. NeigerDesign gave life to this initiative using our branding and marketing expertise.
Chicago Community
We love Chicago! Chicago is the mother ship. Many of us live here. We all take advantage of everything Chicago has to offer as a world-class city. We support civic efforts by creating posters promoting city initiatives such as reading and sustainability.
Design Community
We love design! NeigerDesign is fortunate to be a part of an active and vital Chicago design community. As members of the Chicago Chapter of AIGA, the professional association for design, we support the endeavors to bring designers together to share inspiration and the application of design thinking to bring about positive change and solutions to local, national and global challenges.
Truth. We spread the word. Carol was asked to contribute her wisdom about "Truth" in a presentation at the 2014 Unisource Paper Show, an annual event that is one of the highlights on the Chicago design community calendar.
"We bring our whole life into everything we see and do. With words or pictures we uncover truth through personal vision. We express truth by creating art." Carol Neiger
Education. We invest in the future of design by helping students prepare for the real world.
The NeigerDesign design team presented a panel discussion for Harrington College of Design seniors who are preparing for the job market after graduating.
Using the theme "What to expect when you're expecting...to land your first job...to design with developers... to work with a client... and to work for yourself," our designers illustrated our advice using real experience.
NeigerDesign Vice President Barry Lohman serves on the Visual Communications Department Program Advisory Committee at the Loop campus of Westwood College, reviewing and advising on the design curriculum. This often includes reviewing student work and making presentations to classes about preparing for employment and the search process.
