A Nostalgic Trip Back in Time: 80s Halloween Party

*Cue over-moussed hair and acid wash jeans*

The year was 1989.

Nintendo released the Game Boy.

Batman was the biggest movie of the year.

"Love Shack" hit the airwaves.

...and NeigerDesign was born!

This Halloween, the NeigerDesign team traveled back 30 years in time and paid tribute to the year it all began.

Over the last 3 decades, the NeigerDesign team has celebrated Halloween with annual pumpkin contests and theme costumes. We've covered many costumes ideas from evil villains to famous paintings to the mysterious characters of Clue, but this year called for the ultimate 80s-inspired throwback party.

Our "Hallo-versary" (Halloween anniversary) made for some very fun, creative costumes circa 1989! Take a look:

Floppy Disk

For those too young to remember, this ancient artifact was the USB drive of the 80s.

Madonna

"Express Yourself" was released on Madonna's studio album Like a Prayer on May 9, 1989.

Elaine Benes

Seinfeld's pilot episode aired on July 5, 1989.

Homer Simpson

The first time we met The Simpson family was December 17, 1989.

Dr. Emmet "Doc" Brown

Speaking of time-traveling, Back to the Future Part II hit theaters on November 22, 1989.

Ted Logan

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures for the ultimate historical presentation started on February 17, 1989.

The Little Mermaid

Disney's animated movie became part of our world on November 13, 1989.

Who doesn't love a good 1989 pop culture reference? We had a lot of fun with it!
